Big Bang – Camper & Bus Show
Dates: 21st – 23rd April 2017
From beetles to buses, campers to caddies and golfs to ghias, Big Bang explodes into action with VWs galore as this fun and family friendly festival kicks off the first of three VW festivals on Santa Pod’s calendar. With a jampacked schedule, this weekend promises to delight and surprise with entertainment for the whole family. Calling all you VW lovers out there, Big Bang is the place to be this April! All Vee Dubs welcome!
The ¼ mile takes centre stage hosting an array of race cars for those after a bit of high-octane performance. We can’t wait to see what the VWDRC pros have in store as they take to the track showcasing their awesome power and glistening bodywork. With flame and thunder the FireForce team keep the crowds warmed up as the jet-powered machine tears up the raceway with 5 second passes at over 270mph to look forward to! We are very excited to welcome new for 2017, Oklahoma Willy – The Jet Bus. This 1958 VW pick up has undergone a total restoration and has been re-engineered to introduce modern components with its Rolls Royce 535 jet engine with an afterburner producing a maximum power output of 5000lbs!
As ever our RWYB sessions invite your VAG vehicle to join in the action on Saturday. If you’re a first timer or seasoned expert come and test your time and see what your car’s made of with a performance printout after each run and competition entry just for taking part. All you need is your driving license, sign on fee and the need for speed! If your car is built for peak performance then take to the track on Friday and run until dusk.
See and be seen, bring your motor, bring your machine! At the heart of the festival will be a dazzling display of VW show cars lined up to compete in 2 prestigious competitions. The Autoglym Show and Shine Competition on Sunday is open to all types of pristine VWs; whether you’re the proud owner of a custom car, rare original or restored beauty we want to see what you’ve got. If you lust for rust or are partial to patina, then the Rust and Rat line-up on Saturday is the one for you. With trophies up for grabs in both comps from Best Engine to Judges Choice, why not come and show us what you’ve got for your chance to walk away with some silverware!
A full line-up of brilliant party tunes and serious live music has been announced across 2 arenas. Whatever floats your boat, there’s something for everyone to boogie to at Big Bang including live bands playing modern rock and pop, with DJs spinning club classics and dance anthems. Friday night will see Funky Essex taking to the decks in the marquee and indie rock cover band The Black Market Band in the Fuelers Bar. On Saturday night the marquee hosts UK Beach Boys and Blues Brothers Tribute bands with Undivided (a Boy Band experience) and Karaoke on stage in the Fuelers Bar.
Big Bang has plenty on offer for the kids to get stuck into as we bring you the spectacular Pinder’s circus, Action Wheels bicycle course, various workshops and kids disco. Our resident Monster Truck Podzilla makes its menacing appearance alongside the Red Dragon Monster Truck rides and Mini Monster Trucks.
